As Operation: Thorium Rush begins, we wanted to provide you with more information about how Single-Use Heroes, like Max, function in War Commander.

Single-Use Heroes differ from regular Heroes in that you can only use them once in battle. Once they are deployed, they cannot be used again, nor can they retreat, even if they survive. This means you don’t have to worry about repairs. Just deploy your Single-Use Hero, watch them bring the hurt, then unlock more of these units for additional use later.

Single-Use Heroes let you take an upcoming Hero for a test drive while allowing us to get your feedback, so that we can improve upon  it before its final non-single-use release in the future. Please note that obtaining a Single-Use Hero does not grant you access to the permanent version later on. Here’s a comparison chart between Single-Use and permanent Heroes:
